Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, highly skilled, and Bilingual (English/Spanish) Urology Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic clinical team in New York. The ideal candidate will provide direct, comprehensive care to a diverse patient population presenting with acute, chronic, and complex urological conditions. Because a significant portion of our patient base is Spanish-speaking, professional fluency in medical Spanish is required to ensure culturally competent care, eliminate language barriers, and improve patient education.
Key Responsibilities
-
Patient Care & Evaluation: Conduct targeted physical examinations, obtain detailed health histories, and evaluate patients presenting with conditions such as UTIs, kidney stones, BPH, urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, and urologic cancers.
-
Diagnosis & Management: Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., lab work, urinalysis, CT scans, ultrasounds, and urodynamic studies). Formulate evidence-based treatment plans and prescribe appropriate medications in accordance with NYS regulations.
-
Bilingual Communication & Education: Provide clear, compassionate medical instruction, pre- and post-procedure guidelines, and lifestyle counseling directly in Spanish without relying on translation services.
-
Procedures: Perform or assist with minor in-office urological procedures (e.g., catheterizations, cystoscopies, and stent removals) as trained and credentialed.
-
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with attending urologists, medical assistants, and administrative staff to streamline patient workflow and care coordination.
-
Documentation: Maintain prompt, accurate EMR records in compliance with HIPAA guidelines and NYS health regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
-
Education: Master's or Doctoral Degree in Nursing from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nursing (APRN) program.
-
Licensure: Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) license and Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
-
Certification: Board Certification from the ANCC or AANP (Adult-Gerontology or Family NP preferred). Active DEA registration and NYS Prescriptive Authority.
-
Language Proficiency: Native or professional-level bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
-
Experience: 1–2+ years of clinical experience in Urology, Outpatient Surgery, or Primary Care preferred (New grads with strong urology RN backgrounds will be considered).
