Job Title: Remote Title Examiner

Location: Remote

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Title Examiner with strong knowledge of Texas real estate title examination, including extensive experience reviewing and interpreting Metes and Bounds legal descriptions. This role is responsible for examining public records, identifying title issues, and preparing accurate title commitments and reports for residential and commercial transactions throughout Texas.

Responsibilities:

  • Examine title records, deeds, mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, plats, surveys, probate filings, and other public records.
  • Review and interpret Metes and Bounds legal descriptions to verify property ownership and identify discrepancies.
  • Analyze chains of title and determine ownership history.
  • Identify title defects, encumbrances, restrictions, and other matters affecting insurability.
  • Prepare title commitments, title reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Resolve title issues through research and collaboration with underwriters, attorneys, surveyors, and county recording offices.
  • Review surveys, plats, and legal descriptions for accuracy and consistency.
  • Ensure compliance with Texas title underwriting guidelines and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate examination notes and documentation within company systems.
  • Meet production goals while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of title examination experience, preferably within Texas.
  • Strong understanding of Texas real estate law, title practices, and recording procedures.
  • Experience examining both subdivision and Metes and Bounds properties.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex legal descriptions, surveys, and plats.
  • Familiarity with title plants, county records, and online title research platforms.
  • Knowledge of title commitments, title insurance requirements, and curative processes.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and title production software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with rural land transactions, acreage tracts, and boundary-related title research.
  • Commercial title examination experience.
  • Familiarity with major Texas underwriter guidelines.
  • Texas Title Agent License is a plus but not required.
